Default smartmedia card data retreival?

Without warning my printer (HP P1000) seems to have rendered my smartmedia cards useless when I attempted to read them and tranfer data (photos) to my computer. I have 3 64k smartmedia cards that now cannot be read by the printer nor the camera that impressed photos on them. Does anyone know of anyone that can retreive the photos that were originally on the cards? Is there a fix-up software solution?
Anxious to see my photos from a European trip.

I have had a similar experience with not being able to recover pics from the media. Go to this web site:http://home.arcor.de/christian_grau/dir/index.html
Digital Image Recovery is a freeware program that has saved me before.

Digital Image Recovery is no longer "Freeware", but a copy of the old "freebie" version can be downloaded here:

Ted, for the benefit of others, I can't understand how a printer which should be just reading cards, can corrupt them. When you have recovered your files can you post any clues? Were you 'moving' files as opposed to copying to your pc?

I'll bet in future you'll be using those little write protect tabbies they put in your Smartmedia box!

Default Interim answer to your question

The printer has a built in card reader that has never given me trouble in the past. I estimate that I have successfully tranfered over 200 cards worth of photos to my computer. But since this problem has arisen my guess is that something in the reading link has degraded or failed which somehow (feedback to the card ? ) messes up the card. So far the freeware site only gave me an error message but I'll go to the other site and download. I'll let you know what happens.

Sorry about that URL. I checked and it indeed returns an error.

I have the freeware version and if you like, let me know and I'll email it to you.

Default Corrupted photos

Thanks BillyBob. Yes, I would like to try the freeware version. I also went to the "new" site but also encountered an error there as well. Sorry to answer this so late but I've been on a trip.
