Hi bilirubin
Did you pay any customs charge when you received your package?

Hi,

I am looking at buying a 1GB Sandisk Ultra 2 Compact flash card for my Nikon D70.

I have priced them up in the UK and the best deal I can get is around the £80.00 mark.

However I have seen plenty on Ebay for £30.00 - £40.00 which is half price, but the snag is they are shipped from the far East i.e. Hong Kong, Singapore etc.

Have any of you purchased one from Ebay? if so was it OK, I know that Nikon is made in that part of the world therefore it should be cheaper butI am also aware that this part of the world is known forproducing copied goods and ripping off brand names.

The pictures of the card's looks good on Ebay and they look genuinebutwe all know how good the counterfiters are.

I have bought several cards from that location with no trouble at alland i have saved a lot of money in the process

If you ask them they will send the parcel as a gift so no customs charge

Hi Kevo,

No customs at all, my winning bid was £43.00plus £8.00 postage and packing on top making a total of £51.00.

To be honest it arrived in a small brown padded bag, it could have been a letter from a relative for all the customs knew.

Who cares, I am a happy bunny:-)

LEXAR 1GB MEMORY STICK PRO
Buy It Now: £56.99 +£4 delivery

I just bought this from ebay a moment ago and it's within the UK so no worries of any hidden custom charges. Too good to be true? They still have one more for sale if you hurry.

They cost around £195.00 in the shops if I'm not mistaken.
The seller has a perfect 100% rating so I wonder what's the catch?

Btw, How are Lexar memory stick, does anyone know?

Customs don't like me.

I bought a 512MB CF card on eBay shipped from Hong Kong and I got charged almost £10 from customs! Annoyingly, the seller had ticked the "gift" box so I don't think I should have paid anything.

i've purchased a number of items from ebay, including several from SE Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore), and have had universally good luck. never been burned, and always had good communication and response from sellers. if you see a good deal on an SD card on ebay, go for it.

Is their a claim form in the customs papers? Whenever I get nicked by Canada customs for shipments marked as a gift, I dispute the chargeand always prevail. A month later a cheque comes in the mail.
