Default Iomega 1GB Microdrive

Hello,

I just got a Nikon Coolpix 4500. The manual says that it supports the IBM Microdrive (either 512MB or 1GB).

I noticed on this website that Ritz Camera has the Iomega version of the Microdrive for $269 (it's actually $299).

My question is in compatibility. Since Nikon says the CP 4500 is compatible with the IBM Microdrive, does that mean the Iomega version would be accepable?

Thanks,
Scott

It should. The OEM Iomega's is made by IBM the sole manufacturer!

However I would caution you against the EN-EL1 battery which is not especially matched for the extra power required by the microdrive. Any cost/convenience advantage of the microdrive is then offset by the few extra EN-EL1s, or external battery pack!

I would stick with Flash cards on the 4500... unless they revert back to the use of NiMh AA on the CP990, which can now be bought with 2100mAh rating (for only $12/4)!
