I suppose that SM is OK for 2.0 MP cameras, and *maybe* and I mean *maybe* 3.0 MP cameras But after that, 128 MB is just not enough.

128Mb were fine for my 3.3Mp CP990... It's only @ 5Mp where it starts to be bothersome (or when a camera can capture in raw).

If I were looking to buy a new camera, I would look to a camera that can use more than one form of media. The Olympus C5050 will take SM, CF and the XD cards.

... but in the end you'll still end up with CF, judging by the higher price of the only other large capacity sD cards available at this time against CF, sometime @ 50 to 100% more costly... (The microdrive then really looks like a bargain with its lowest cost/Mb!)

It's all market share/demand. Actually we're very fortunate in the States for having CF at such an attractive price. In most parts of the world, CF command a higher price because of the extra chip/packaging and only limited to higher-end cameras!
