does anyone know if Olympus or any third party plans on releasing a true high speed xd card?

If you mean the Type D (supposed to be 2 to 3 times faster than the original and the Type M), here is a post I wrote a few days ago: http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/v...mp;forum_id=52

Bottom line, we're still at least a few weeks away from being able to buy them in the U.S.

You're welcome!

I assume the C-5000 will be compatible with the Type H since it is compatible with the Type M - just guessing (I only raise the question because many cameras that used the pre-Type M were not - or were only partially -compatible with the Type M.
