How do I know if its damaged? I just bought it put it in camera worked fine took some pics with with then copied the files to my pc. worked fine after that then the next day all of sudden the icon on the camera that lets me know that a sd card is present isnt no longer showing up. so I went to menu format card then it says card error. Can someone help me

Check card in PC with USB card reader.
If you can find card in PC try top format it to FAT. (not FAT32)

If it doesn't work in PC card is dead, either some manufacturing error or static electricity... open contacts are attractive targets for static electricity.

i put it in the pc card reader and nothing happen. nothing popped up I am i suppose to go and open it up?

Not all users keep autostart on because it's serious security risk, also it can be disabled individually for certain kind devices so check card reader's drive name which is propably E or F.
(Windows-button+E is shortcut to explorer)

But sounds much like dead card.
