Newbie help on COMPACT FLASH card?

Hi,
I juz get my new Canon A70, i didn't get the extra memory card yet.
I am confusing on getting a new compact flash card.

I plan to get a 256mb CF
here are the brands which available in my place,

1. Kingston
2. Apacer
3. PQI

Which brand is better and faster..
i heard kingston CF card is 24X while Apacer have their very own Photo Steno which also run in 24X and Photo Steno Pro which run on 25X?
Is the speed really important? how could the speed affect the digital camera performance?

Thanks
Regards,

If you want a lot of detail about CF cards and how they interact with your camera, go to this link:
http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/mul...e.asp?cid=6007

Not only is this a performance database, it does into some good details about CF.

I know nothing about the Canon A70. Here is my guess. You won't see any difference between the 24X and the 25x. Heck, I'd be surprised if you saw a difference with a 12-15x. Only the really high end cameras can take advantage of the really fast cards....

I know nothing about those brands you listed. Since I don't know lots about CF brands, I'd take that with a grain of salt. Personally, I'd consider mail ordering a CF as you'll have a wider selection and better prices (usually.)

kingston is the only widely known brand you mentioned.

apacer/pqi are little known in general.

i would start searching the web for pricing. brands like:
Lexar
Delkin
Sandisk- ultra and extreme lines

these are well backed and available quality products. lifetime warranty and stable companies.

remember whats available around you these days is just a few keyboard hits and mouse clicks away.
