Default PNY Compact Flash Can't Be Read By Mac

I have a G4 733Mhz and am using a Delkin Flashreader 2 and PNY 128mb Compact Flash cards for my CP5K.

Under Windows 2000 on a laptop, I have no problems at all.

When using Mac (9.1 and higher), USB reader gets plug-ed in with no problems. Then when inserting the compact flash, I get a message saying the "disk" can't be read and prompting to either "eject" or "initialize" using Mac OS Standard or Mac OS extended.

I've installed the Flash Readers software as well as the Nikon Viewer software, correctly - but no success.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Bowisc

Card readers and many other USB devices are good for pc/mac. But the format/info of card most likely not.

I forgot to add that I was successful in loading drivers and using the PNY compact flash cards and Delkin USB reader on friend's iMac.

So it looks as though the problem is isolated to something in the Mac OS... on my Mac.

I'm still baffled.

One other thing, did you format card in camera? could be the problem if you used the reader to format.

I did use the camera to format the PNY CF's.

If I choose to initialize the card through the mac/reader, then when inserting into the camera, I get prompted to format the card.

Thanks for the help so far.

Went over to a friends who has a G4 and the camera/card combination worked fine.

Unless I find a solution, I'll try re-formatting my hard-drive and re-installing software. There could be a conflict somewhere.

Default Card Reader

Bowisc

I have somewhat the same problem you have on my G4/400 but in my case the reader does not appear at all on the desktop, have also installed Reader and NikonView software. Would appreciate your posting results after re-formatting your hard drive. Thanks.

I will certainly post results soon. Hopefully I can get to it soon. I would really hate to re-format everything and customize it all over again.

Stay tuned.

PNY reader won't work on AMD 850 while running WIN XP downloaded drivers from PNY site. After each CF is read the reader has to be removed from usb and then plugged in again...or rebooted. Got
sandisk reader works great....dump PNY or use on older OS.

It's not the OS (9.2).
The CF card and camera worked fine on a friend's Mac using OS 9.2

Apparently there is some conflict on my machine, but with Mac it is not easy to trouble-shoot.
