I was worried that the SD card I'd bought online was a fake, so contacted the supplier. They assured me that all of their cards are bought direct from the manufacturer, and as such offered to refund me in full if I was worried. I thought this was a fantastic level of comitment, and declined, but if things should go wrong, can go back to them with peace of mind. (Also, for a technophobe, their memory selector thingy was really easy to find what memory my camera needed)

Check them out at www.mymemory.co.uk/forum

To add to the global paranoia ! I purchased several Extreme sd cards from Play.com in the UK - a reputable online company. Compared to the Viking (Toshiba) cards I have, they feel more flimsy !! There is certainly a code on the back and a notch - but there appears to be no rounded piece in the centre of this notch - which is present in the sandisk website picture.......

I have done a quick pic to sandisk !!

Do I need photographic counselling or is there a lot of fakery out there ??

cheers

I think you should notify Play.com that you think they may have gotten ahold of some counterfeit cards.

hhhhmmm ! Amazon.co.uk has the same picture !! No notch !

So is the notch relevant or not ? No notch on 1gb but perhaps a notch on 2 gb ? Sandisk US website suggests there is a notch.... !! Somebody enlighten me please - I'm one confused customer.....

All that really mattters is whether SanDisk's image of their cards []http://www.sandisk.com/Corporate/Default.aspx?CatID=1142] have the notch. Anybody else's image that doesn't have the notch is showing an image of a counterfeit. That's why SanDisk has hi-res images of their products on their website, so you and I can distinguish the real thing from the junk.

It doesn't look good, does it !

Also I emailled Sandisk support last night to seek advice because the items I purchased had a different notch to the Sandisk pic . Received a reply today when i woke up to say a response was in my ebox and an allocated response reference number was quoted. Signed in - no message from Sandisk !
