Default How to format a CF card?

Just got into the CF card world. Was used to SM and had zero issues using a C2020 Olympus for years. Had a CF card crash recently and was able to get my pictures off using Photorescue (great product BTW) but my card has been rendered useless. How do you format these things? My Minlota 7Hi has no instructions to do it nor can I find this information on SanDisk cite?

Should be somewhere in the manual , I don’t have the manual here, but look here , in the middle of the page:

http://www.steves-digicams.com/2002_...ge7Hi_pg5.html

- put camera’s top selector in “play” mode
- push menu button
- under “basic” tab, choose “format” and “enter” , you will have another promt “yes” or “no”

Thanks KCan - tried it and you're right the menu is there but it won't recognize my card. Guess I really boogered it up somehow. Think low battery power or write process was going on when I turned it off or was taking pictures. Can't seem to clean up the card to make it work. So much for cheap Costco SanDisk CF cards. What makes me nervous is buying a larger expensive card knowing how easy this one got corrupted! Also surprised I can't locate a utility to do a low level format? :x

Tried that several times KCan. Running the CW (Card Wipe) utility one more time before giving up on it. Windows just won't recognize it.

One thing to be said for the "Pro" cards is that they have a lifetime warrenty. Yours still might be covered, so I'd check. Your best bet might be replacement.

Unfortunately this was a "Costco" 128mb special. buying a good CF card next time is exactly what I intend to do. A bit ridiculous to buy nice equipment then cut corners on the CF...

Costco cares about their reputation to some extent. How long have you had the CF card? If it's over a month you are probably out... but they have been good to me about returns in the past.
