Default Format or Delete? Does it matter?

Right now, my main card is a 340mb MD. When I want to get rid of the files, does it matter if I format or delete? Will one wear the drive down more reducing its life?

Thanks,

Jeremy

If you shoot a batch of pics and always delete the same batch each time, then delete is OK. If you delete some, leave others and add more, your drive may become fragmented like a hard drive (remember defrag?).

You will then notice your MD takes longer and longer to save pics (just like HD's). So every so often clean the drive completely with reformat.

There are posters here using their MD's extensively without probs.

I've never had more than 100 pics on it at once- I've also never deleted only select pictures... once they're on my machine, they get trashed from the card.
