Default CF Memory vs Microdrive in Dimage 7Hi

Does anybody know about the best choice for use in a Minolta Dimage 7Hi:

What:
- Standard CF-Card 1 GB (e.g. Sandisk)
- Sandisk Ultra Cards (even if less memory available)
- IBM Microdrive 1GB

for these options:
- price (is nearly clear after reading in this forum)
- saving time (which one ist the fastest?)
- shock resistance
- MTBF
- danger for memory loss because of electric fields or x-rays at the airport luggage check

Tanks in advance

Default CF Cards vs Microdrive

Hello again,

nobody of you experts have an idea?

But I am sure that you have experience with the needed power.
Which type of card (with equal memory) needs more power in your digicam?

In the newsgroups I found discussions that the CF cards with multipiled access speed (32x / 40x) are in most cameras not really faster whether they have a faster chip.
E.g. Minolta does not say anything about that concerning their dicams' compatibility.

This question was asked many times already, just do a search on microdrive... The microdrive of course will take more current than any flash; However, it does so in small burts only during writes.

Many people here use the microdrive since it's relatively inexpensive and fast, but 32x/40x flash cards are getting much cheaper too nowaday so there's not as much advantage as it used to be. The D7's are especially suitable for the microdrive with it cheap NiMh power source and it takes ~12s to write a raw file with this camera. I use both and haven't had any problem with either...

... and here's the microdrive datasheet with the related data you were looking for:
