I have a Canon G5 and 380EX flash. For the occassional family request for a group or individual picture I've thought aboutpurchasing 1 - 2 auxillary slave flashes and/or a gatorboard reflector to improve the overall lighting. I read the review of the Quantaray MS-1 with real interest (for my limited purposes this might be fine). Could I get this to function by turning the G5's red-eye "off"? Would I also have to turn off the AF assist beam (I'd prefer not to). If I must consider the DigiSlave DS-1, can it "read" the flash if the sensor is not at least 90 degrees to the main flash (ie. if it were aimed into an umbrella with most of its back to the 380EX)? Any knowledge of the Sunpak flat-panel ($80)?
