camera strap

I just bought an Optech strap, but I don't like it. I wear my camera over one shoulder and neck, swinging it up to take shots. The Optech has all the adjustment buckles in the "wrong" place, they hook on my shirt every time I swing the camera up.

Before that I had a Lowe Transporter strap. The wide part, because it's movable on the strap, was never on my shoulder. It just slid wherever it wanted to go.

The Black Rapid RS4 would be perfect for me, however it would be a pain cause I'd have to change connections when I change lenses. I usually have a Canon 70-200 F 2.8L on the camera, I could then hook the connector to the tripod collar.
However, I will often put my Sigma 18-200 lens on, no tripod collar so I'd have to switch the connector to the camera's tripod mount.

In addition, I always have a Manfrotto QR on both the camera body, and the tripod collar on my big lens.

Too bad, cause the way the Black Rapid carries would be perfect for me. I never put the strap just around my neck. I always sling it.

Is there a sling style strap that uses the camera strap points and *not* the tripod mount holes that anyone is aware of?

There are a lot of them out there, you could always use something to cover the parts that catch on your clothing.
I looked at their site and was fascinated with their selection. I have been looking for a different strap than the one that came with camera. Maybe google around some if you do not like the one you have. Try Hoodman...don't know, they may have something. I will look around. May have to have something made to your needs.

Make your own? Might be worth a go.

You can buy more connectors seperately and just leave them on both the camera and lens(s)...

Here's a great Black Rapid RS-4 demo video...

They also have other models and accessories...

Amazon carries extra connectors... ;)

Also look up B&H photo, they have a good selection of them.

Inkle looms do good when ya wish to make your own straps ... its not hard to handle either and goes fast enough that you can make the straps and custom adjust for others.. Just the thought ... Don't know if this would be an improvement, I certainly love mine. Wearing it around my neck with my FZ40, I hardly feel the camera.
