Default Camera Weather Bag

I will be going on a fishing tournament next week and I am bringing my DSLR on the boat. I am not planning on getting the camera wet, and it will stay in a big tupperwear when not in use. I am worried about the salt air and possible spray ruining the camera (it isnt a professional/weathersealed model).

I saw this plastic bag thing at the camera store today for $7 (2 pack) that kind of rubberbands around the lens, and it covers the whole camera. I can't find it online for an example, but it looks like it would protect from light spray... does anyone have experience with these, or have any other suggestions?
