Default El Cheapo slide(transparency) copier

I enjoy copying my old slides, some from over fifty years ago. To facillitate this, I built my own device to make this enjoyable. I'm enclosing a couple of photos for those of you who might want to do the same.

I bought a 2x1/4" chunk of ash for the job at Lowes. I hope the photos make sense and if not, I will try to answer your questions. I am using my Sony A200 with a Minolta 50mm f1.7 lens plus a half inch extension tube. I like to use subdued light indoors or out. I always use a sheet of white paper as a background. I like to stop down to f8 or greater to keep the image sharp. Since the camera and the slide move as one, shutter speeds of 1 sec. or longer, hand held are done with no blur. I have made similar rigs for point and shoot cameras and they have worked equally well. The camel hair brush on it's holder is for dusting the slides which is a definate must. The nylon tie wrap is used as a depth guage.

It would be nice to see it with the camera mounted but then you may have only one camera!

I made a similar device out of a cardboard tube. It fits snuggly over the lens. I made a slide mount on the opposite end. I use an x-ray viewbox as my light source.
