Is there any special benefit to using an intensifying filter with a digital camera? Does it do anything that I couldn't do in Photoshop?

Rhetorical question?

An intensifying filter brings out contrast and saturation in warm colors, without affecting other colors, something that should be easy enough in photoshop using selective color, or in the hue/saturation dialog box. My answer is no.
