I have been looking for a good backdrop to pin up in my study (man cave) against the wall that won't reflect light from a flash or at least absorb most of the light.

Flannel sheets can be found in lots of solid colors, and reflect very little. Not expensive, either.

JoAnn Fabrics has wide bolts (100+ inches) of muslin, white, natural, and some colors like black and navy. Plus you can dye them to the color of your choice. Check sunday paper for 40 or 50% off coupon and it is relatively inexpensive. With coupon, 3 yards 108" wide is around $12.
Also, is echo a problem with a sound system in the man-cave? Can build sound deadening panels to hang on the wall. 4x8 ply base and build a frame with 1x2 along the edge, fill the void with the pink Owens Corning fiberglass insulation and cover over with the cloth, pulling the cloth tight and staple to the backside of the frame. thanks that is great advice however I do not currently have any problems with sound in my cave. It seems to be acoustically beneficial for my needs. Maybe they built my townhouse funky or something, who knows?...
