I have a camera bag with something called a "reverse-open lid".

This "reverse-open lid" appears to be a waste of space, in that all it does is cover a smallzip compartment, and has nothing to do with speedy access to the camera.

Unless im doing something wrong, all the "reverse-open lid" appears to do is slow down access toa small zipped compartment on the side of the bag.

I hope someone can help clear up what this "reverse-open lid" is all about.

How do you carry your bag?

The so-called reverse-open lid is setup so that when the bag is strapped on your waist or chest, the lid opens away from your body, therefore giving you fast access to your camera since you don't have to fumble pressing the lid against your body to get the camera.

Hi rey

Thanks for replying.

I use the shoulder strap, so perhaps if I try strapping it to my waist ill work out what its all about.

Im obviously having a blonde moment :-)

Strapped bag to waist, but still the "reverse-open lid" only gives access to a small zipped compartment.

Now if it flapped over the camera compartment id understand its usefulness.

Maybe I somehow managed to by one with a defect.

Can you post pic of your bag, or give us the model or link to it. Is it top loading?

I haven't bought a bag that's reverse open lid, but I've looked around and about to buy one, so if you're having problems with yours, I won't be surprised if I'll have problems with it as well.

Yup still at work :-)

As you can see there is a regular zip lid (nothing special there), and a flap that reaches from the top to the bottom of the bag that you can see coming into view on theleft side of the picture.

When I unbuckle this very large flap all I am awarded with is a small zip compartment, not my nice shiny camera, and yet logic says that flap should be the entry system to the camera.

The mind boggles as to the design of this bag.

and no sign of a special reverse lid either.

It looks like the zip-portion is THE reverse lid. So to access your camera, you unzip the top and open the top lid away from you, therefore accessing the camera. It also looks like, this works better if the bag is strap to your waist instead of using it as shoulder bag.

Cheers for responding.

Its not like I don't understand how the bag works, butmaking the reverse action lid a selling point makes it sound like a feat of engineering :-)

The only thing I can imagine that big old flap could be good for that coversthe little zip compartment is fooling would be thieves in to thinking that is where you need to go to gain accessmy camerawhile its on my shoulder, but all they will find is a USB cable andalens pen :-)
