I have used a Dell laptop for almost a year, and I had the same problem that your neighbor had with the touch pad seeming to scatter everywhere. I turned the touch pad off and got a small wireless mouse. Could not be happier with it. I probably should have "learned" to use the touch pad, but it drove me crazy.

A bit late on this one, I find my battery powered wireless mouse sometimes throws a wobbler if the battery is getting low, so assuming yours is battery powered also, first step should be to try a replacement. Just a thought. ... Jack
