Default is this a good hood for the SMC Pentax-M 50mm f1.7 ?

Hello,

I bought the old Pentax SMC M 50mm f1.7 on eBay and am looking for a hood for it.

Would this one be good for it ?

Thanks !

Are you sure your lens takes 52mm filters as the hood screws into the filter ring? The details state the lens hood is for lenses with a focal length of 45 - 55mm but I would still check to make sure it isn't clipping the corners. You would also have to be careful to check the corners when using it with a filter. Also make sure you don't overtighten the hood and jam it on the filter threads.

Thanks Bob,

It was actually my mistake when pasting that link. The Lens takes 49mm filters, and I was referring to that same hood, but on 49mm (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...A3P5ROKL5A1OLE)

Regards

I don't see why not, especially on a dSLR, but can't say for sure I've never used a hood on an M 50 f1.7. It looks like it's far enough out from the lens that it wouldn't cause vignetting, but I wouldn't swear to it. As far as threads go, both the M50 f1.7 and f1.4 have 49 mm threads.
