I just bought a Quantary 6 point cross screen filter for my 750 UZ and when I download my pics all the effects of the cross screen have rainbows of color in them.

Why?

:homey: Hi

I`m not sure if this is the answer without seeing the pics but it might be a variation on purple fringing which is well known on digital cameras. Go to my post in Tips and Tricks "Get rid of purple fringing the easy way" and see if that helps. Let me know.

Cheers

My guess is it has to do with how the star filter smears the image.

If the smearing is not perfectly smooth a normal camera will be fine. But a digital camera has seperate RGB sensors, so small bright sports scattered around will give you colors instead of white.

Thanks for the replies. The RGB makes sense. I did not think of that. I would post some of the pics but my computer is so slow it takes forever to upload pics to the internet. So I will trash the cross filters.

your cross screen, is it etched glass or other material? if so the answer is in the prism rainbow. most are etched.

you will get it also with film.
