Can You please recommend an excellent quality, very LIGHT and small Monopod. I am looking for one I can take on vacations, carry around easily (light and small) yet is still well built.

Thanks for your help! I appreciate it.

the Gitzo Traveler GM2560T sounds like the ticket for you if you have the budget for it. it weighs less than a pound, it's only 14.3" long when collapsed, and extends to 56.1" and has a load capcity of almost 10 pounds. It has 6 section legs with Gitzo's anti-leg rotation system for really fast extension. But you better sit down before you hear the price. List is a little over $200.

thanks for the information and it does sound perfect, except for one thing.... what if i need something that will support a little more than 10 pounds. with a nikon d200 and a long zoom lens, might i be pushing it a little. is there another Gizto that would make sense and still fit the requirements? very light (like this one) and small (like this one).

lastly, what kind of head should i get with it.

thanks. you've been very helpful.

check out http://www.gitzo.com there are several to choose from, they have a carbon fiber model that will handle 17.5 pounds, not as light, and I'm not sure about price but it may fit the bill for you. You can also look and http://www.bogen.com they also have several different models to choose from.
