Folks, I did not know where to put this one, but this is the story: the 350D was just out of the box, early in the morning, I took this shot. Lens Sigma. 18-50mm The mode was probably auto.:G:G

Nice first shot and also a lesson on auto mode. The color looks fine but the focus of the image would appear to the be the blossoms but they are actaully the only thing thats not in focus which is probably due to a large apreture (small f number). I'm sure you will have time to play around with that soon.

Dang good for a first shot.

I agree it looked like the focus was slightly missed for the main subject of interest.

The light looks low, so you might have needed to boost the ISO to 400 or 800.

Make sure your aperture is F5.6 is better.

Also, the framing is a little off. There is too much room above the flower, and the lower part of the flower is chopped off. Shoot really wide, then crop the shot later with photo software.

Nice choice of shot, go back and try that flower again!
