For example, what is the best 1/2.5" vs. 1/1.7"???
and SONY SUPER HAD? is it good?

Those are sensor sizes.

Typically the larger the sensor the better the quality of the image captured due to the larger photosites embedded onto the sensor.

Though that has to be balanced by technology moving onwards, ie a large sensor poorly designed and built 3 years ago, might not be as good as a smaller sensor using more modern technology.

Super HAD , is as far as I know a type of ccd used as a sensor by some Sony cams.
