I have this lens and just wondered if anyone would just use the lens on it's own for Macro work or would you also attach the Add-On MacroLensesto it...????

If its one of Sigma's current macro lens line, then it is a fairly good macro lens, so you really don't need to attach anything to it to get good macro results.

If you wanted to do really crazy extreme stuff you could put a 500D on it or something similar. But only do that if you're planning on photographing the larvi you find in ponds. Most normal macro work it will handle just fine.

It's the older Sigma 105mm EX DG MAcro 1:2.8

That lens gives you 1:1 macro capability. You really don't need any extenders with it.

A 105mm lens isn't really made for live subjects. You can do it, but you might find you'll end up getting so close as to scare them.

That is why I'm lusting after a 180mm. That gives you enough distance that you might not scare the subject. Of course, those cost loads of money, so I haven't gotten one yet.
