I also thought about rather leaving it on the passenger seat than the trunk, but sadly, "smash & grab" is a reality here. Id rather let my camera shake apart than let some hooligan take my camera.

What's the chance of that happening, you think? Quite high when they put up "smash and grab hotspot" signs at certain intersections......
