black and white with DSC-P10

how do you take a black and white picture with the dsc-p10. thanks, outerbanker1

You should find the option to choose black & white, under the Picture Effect Menu when in Programmed AE mode.

Perhaps dedicated B&W specialists will disagree with me, but I find I can transition a color shot to B&W in the photo editing software as well as the camera can do it. That way I have the option of the color if I want it. I would imagine the B&W shot takes less memory space.

Actually, you can do it BETTER in photo software than you can on the camera; although doing it in the camera is easier because you just select an item on a menu and you get the added benefit of the B&W display on the LCD...but on the computer you can get a lot of contrast out of a colour picture while on the camera that contrast is lost.

I use photoshop 7 but it is not the easiest program to use. Also, I have an old copy of Photo Deluxe that works well and is very easy to use. I have Ulead Photo Impact 7 which is easier than Photoshop.
