Default Blotches on Flash shots in fog/mist.

I tried shooting some flash shots outside in a relatively
light mist or fog. Although droplets could not be seen with the naked eye, I think they were reflecting the flash and I was getting all sorts of round gray blotches over the photo. I thought I might have drops on the lens but I tried cleaning it. No go.It worked fine before and after indoors. Is this normal and how do I combat it if I'd like to take more flash shots in the mist....after all, I live in Nova Scotia and we get lots of fog and mist !

Thanks in advance,

Your flash is reflecting off mositure particles. It is similar to using bright lights on your car in the fog. The light from the bright lights reflect off the fog because the light is to intense. You could try a diffuser to help soften the flash.

Might be a bit off beat, but would putting a linear polarising filter over the flash head help, rotate it to get least reflection??? Just a guess. VOX
