I'm rather fond of my A10 and think it's an excellent choice. I use my D7 for serious work but the A10 gathers no dust. It's a bit shy of pixels to print 8x10s but otherwise has always given me terrific results. I chose it because it uses compact flash memory and standard AA NiMH batteries (don't forget to include battereies and a charger). It may sound like overkill but I have a 256mb card in mine. It will store at least 360 fine quality 1.3mp images which is handy for times when you can't download every day.
IMHO if you want a gift the beginner can really learn photography with both choices are too automated. |
