Default Buying a Digital Camera!!!!!

I have been researching purchasing a new digital camera. I like the new Cannon and Nikon SLR's. I have been checking out Photography Magazines and in there I see stores out of New York City selling these cameras at great prices some even include lenses and still are below local prices for the body only. Could someone tell me if this IS a great DEAL or should I be hesitant?

Beware of a price that seems to good. Many of the stores with the super low prices will only sell you the camera if you buy overpriced add ons. www.dealtime.com provides price comparison and reviews by people who have purchased (or attempted to purchase) a camera from the vendor.

By all means stay away from places like www.aaa.com . Rip-off artistists....

BTW, consider the Fuji S2 Pro in that group. Great camera and easy to use. Uses all lenses and batteries are easy and cheap!

been many posts about NYC dealers, Steve sumed it up saying that there is only a 10% profit margin on current models. The best deals are cams that the owners swear by that are going out of production as new model comes out. New does not mean better, models are changed in under a year now.
Be careful and good luck,
