Just purchased a new d20 with 18-55 lens. Also bought a new canon bag. My bag has a place were I can put camera in lens down, there are sides that suport body.Is this o.k. or should I take the lens off when putting camera away? Last camera was a point and shoot so I do not have a clue.

You mean the 20D , leave the lens on is just fine, only time I pack my bodies away with bodycaps on is when they go in the pelican case for travel.
Which way it points depends on the bag. In my backpack, and several other cases it faces down. In my Orion fanny-packs it sits sideways. Whatever you do keep something either a lens or a bodycap on the camera, same goes for the rear lens element. Keeps strange things from getting into them. :blah: EDIT: for long term storage take the battery out (recommended in the manual). |
