I'd like some user opinions about these two digicams because I read a lot about the two and all the reviews seems positives (and that don't help me in my choice...)

Canon, I don't like Sony cos they use their own memory.

Definitely go with the Canon. I owned the DSC-S85 and took it back within 24 hours. I then purchased the Canon S230 because of it's portability, and I am much happier with it's clarity, less grain, and less color blotching. The only good thing about the sony was the informative battery, which the Canons come with the Lithium's as well just don't tell you how long before it goes dead. Out of Steves sample images on the s45, it's very awesome. I wish I would have waited to get one but they were all on backorder when I got mine, so I settled for the s230. Also if portablity is an issue, I would take a gander at the s400. Hope that helps...

I agree, go with the Canon, I had the S-85 and really tried to like the camera, I just was unhappy with the picture quality. I returned and purchased an Olympus C-4000 and am very happy.
