Default Choosing an Ultra Zoom camera for my wife

I want to buy a 10x optical zoom camera for my wife that is easy to use and takes good quality pictures. I have narrowed down the field to three cameras in $300-$400 price range - the Minolta Dimage Z1, the Fuji S5000 and the Olympus C-740. 3.2 megapixels is sufficient for her purposes since she would not be printing photos larger than 8x10. Each camera appears to have their plusses and minuses, so I would appreciate practical feedback from current owners of these cameras so that I can make an informed decision. Thanks. Brian

I have experience with the S5000 and the C740 and I would choose the S5000 or the C740. I believe either camera should make your wife happy.

While i believe the s5000 has better potential image quality then either of the other cameras mentioned, realizing this requires post processing of the images on a computer. The out-of-cam images from the Minolta and Olympus will be of higher quailty, IMO. Is your wife the type to post process?
