Well, I have noticed some streaks and weird patterns on my lens recently and never had to clean it before.
So how should I? Do I NEED to get a lens cleaner pen or something, or would a microfiber cloth with a drop of water work?

lens coating isn't scratched by abrasive particles like sand or metal. You should blow off any loose dust using a blower. Once you are certain the lens is free of any abrasive particles, you can clean it with a soft micro-fibre cloth or a lens cleaning wipe. I use moistened cleaning wipes for lenses and eye glasses. http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showt...p?t=2055968207 |

After blowing off loose particles, I use either a micro fiber cloth or a lens pen. I find the lens pen the most convenient when in the field.

I have a blower-brush, but I rarely use it. I use the brush on the LensPen, and if that doesn't do the job, I use the chamois tip of the LensPen or a microfiber cloth.
And, occasionally, I sit down with all my lenses, filters, etc., and clean them all with distilled water and cotton swabs. If things are really bad, I'll add some ethyl alcohol to the water.
