Hey guys,
I have a Digital Rebel, which creates pictures in the 35mm standard 3:2 aspect ratio. Now, to crop for 8x10's in Photoshop I was going to use the Crop tool with a fixed aspect ratio. Now, my question is, what should I put in as the Aspect ration? I was thinking just putting in 10 width and 8 height...but then after looking at the table here I'm wondering if I'm supposed to use 100 width and 83 height? Which is correct? Graeme |

Use 10 and 8 inches. Don’t put anything in the resolution box and it won’t resample the image. You can go Image>Image Size and see what PPI you ended up with. Unless you make a small crop you will end up with plenty of resolution for an 8 X 10 with a 6Mp camera. A resample degrades the quality a little and there is no reason to do it if there is no need.
If you put 100 and 83 it will try to print a 100 X 83 inch print at some incredible low resolution. |
