Default Descisions, Descisions

Well the time has come, for me to send a report to my dad on which camera he shud get. Well after sifting thru practically every review there is to offer on the 3MP section, I make a short list:

Canon PowerShot S30
Fuji FinePix F601 Zoom
Fuji FinePix 4800 Zoom
Fuji FinePix 6800 Zoom
Nikon Coolpix 3500
Sony DSC-P7
Sony DSC-P5

Out of all these camera's which one would be the best in terms of price/performance.

I ALSO looked at the Fuji 3800, but its SLR like shape has pushed me away bcuz it looks and possibly is quite boxy. One of the requirements for the digicam was for it to be a lil more pocketable.

Oh and if neone has ne other reccommendations please feel free to post

Theres my list, now i leave it upon those much wiser than me, to
help me out in making my descision. Thank u all

Have you actually used any of them?? I *highly* encourage you to do so. Hold the camera. See how it feels in your hands. See how well you think the controls are layed out. You need to check out the interface. If you buy the camera without seeing and using it first, you might find it awkward to use. That would suck, as it may mean you might not use it very often.

Listen to jsmeeker, for many a shirt pocket cam easy to point and shoot is all they want. Others more serious might accept a bigger cam for more functions, bigger lenses etc.

It's no good recommending your dad a big Chevvy if he can't park it in town!

Well we have played around with most of them, just not the P7 or the P5, but we did use the Sony P1. Overall my dad found it pretty easy to handle, and to use. So far tho, he has preferred the S30 and the Fuji's, in terms of interface. But he said he finds them all easy, so whichever one is cheap, and offers the best bang-for-the-buck would be the one to get.
