i took about 30 pictures a month ago of the northern lights (for those whodont know what the northern lights areits the red glow in the pictures from the link below)and most (or all) have noise in the photo. all phots were taken with a 16sec exposure. i took 2 with a 10 sec exposure and they looked the same.



my camera olympus 4040zoom and I am wondering how to get rid of all this noise so the pictures look much cleaner. i was hoping to clear this up soon. i want to take a few pictures of a comet and the moon within the next month

Use NeatImage or NoiseNinja to make the noise disappear. there are some threads here at steve's about that. Just search for "neatimage" or "noiseninja" and your problem will be solved. :-)

Try this one also, if you havent tried the others yet. They give you a 15 day free trial. Its pretty good.
