I have a canon S2 IS and i got the lens adapter and hood set and i have read that when you have the lens hood on that u shouldnt use the flash cause it will hit the hood and leave a dark spot. and my question is that when i have the lens hood on the AF-assist beam kinda hits the hood too. will this make it harder for the camera to focus or will it hurt my shots? thanks for the help.

Go in a dark room tonight and take some flash shots at various distances. If it focuses it has to be using the assist light. My guess is that the lens hood is not affecting the assist light in the focus area.

I don't know about the Canon, but exactly what you are worried about has been reported as a problem on the FZ20. So it certainly can be an issue. FWIW
