Default Looking for info.

I am brand new to this site and am just starting to get into photography. I was lucky enough to be given a Nikon P90 for Christmas. I have a lot to learn and I was wondering if there are any books or other things I could check out so I can start learning some of the basics. Any help would be really great. Thanks!

The biggest thing you can do is take a lot of photos, and critically examine each one. Figure out what you may have done wrong and how you can prevent it in the future. In the days of film, that process could get expensive fast, but with digital, there are no obstacles to getting a lot of personal experience.

And personal experience is the best teacher.

  • 'Full Frame' is the new 'Medium Format'.

To add on to TCAVs advice: the web and photography forums are great places to learn. In particular, seek out images taken by others of the types of things you like to photograph. See what things you like and dislike about their photos. When confused as to how a certain thing was done - ask questions.

And, when you're feeling comfortable, post photos and specifically ask people for critique. It can be daunting to do that but you will improve 100 times faster by seeking/accepting critique from others.
