Minolta Dimage F100 or Nikon Coolpix 4300

OK, the more I look, the more confused I get! I am now deciding between the Minolta Dimage F100 and the Nikon Coolpix 4300. I need to keep the budget around $500. This will be my first digital camera and I need something that is easy to use. Any opinions on either of the two (or any others in the price range) would be appreciated.

My 2c worth

If I were a newbie, I would go for the Coolpix 4300. More straightforward to use with great picture quality. I gave it my vote at:

Having said that, do read the users' opinions at this and other review sites. Sometimes these are far more helpful in tipping the balance one way or the other.

Cheers,
