Default Motion / Image Capture speed Still A Problem

I have a 2-3 year old Olympus. It's image capture time is AWFUL, seeming like a 2 second delay, but probably only 1 second. This with focus already set (1/2 trigger pull) and etc..

That means I can't use it for ANY sporting event, kids plays with much motion etc..

Basically, it's a posed shot kind of thing.

Now I'm considering buying another, but it MUST be able to shoot a shot I could have captured with a std camera and asa 400.

Has the industry evolved enough yet, or is image capture still slow?

Thanks.. dan

Their are consumer class cameras with very fast prefocused shutter delay avaiable currently. The main issue now is autofocus lag. Check out www.imaging-resource.com reviews. A standarized timing test is used on all cameras reviewed at that site.

If you want to eliminate pre-focus delays and get a good write rate to your memory card think in the long term about a Digital SLR.
