My first digicam...
I want to buy a Digicam for about 450 EUR, but I have no clue witch cam I should buy.

It should be an allround cam (3 Megapixel), because there's nothing specific I plan to take pics of. And it would be nice if it would support compact flash II, so it would be possible to use the IBM microdrive for it.

would be really nice if somebody could help me! :)

I am not sure what 450 Eur is woth in US dollars. list pricing on cameras with buyers ratings. The Olympus C4000 is a 4mp, 3X optical and would be a good all around camera. It has point and shoot along with manual settings as you grow into the use of the camera.

450EUR = 450 $US pretty much

and i'll take a look on it, thx

edit: looks nice, although it's maybe a little bit too expensive, but the price is ok, but it doesn't support compact flash II :(
any cam like that, that supports CF/2 ?

but I don't think there's a digicam I'm looking for that supports CF/2, so i guess I'll wait for the test of the new Casio Exilim EX-Z3...

what do u guys think bout the Fuji FinePix S304 ?
sounds not too bad to me, but I only saw the technical details yet and nothing else.
it doesn't support CF/2, but xD, and i jsut read that they'll bring out xD-cards up to 8 GB...

Why is CFII a requirement? I have a Gig microdrive in my Casio 3000 and like it - but the price of other kinds of memory has come down enough that microdrives seem to be about half the price of solid state - used to be almost a a factor of four.

well, just like I said, since I read that they'll plan to produce xD picture cards up to 8GB, I'd buy a digicam, that supports it.
but I'M still pretty clueless what cam I should buy.
the Fuji FinePix S304 looks fine to me, the only disadvantage seems to be, that you don't get great pics when you shoot at low-light/night conditions.
but for now I didn't see any other cam, that supports CF/2 or xD and costs less than 500EUR.
but if there is any other cam in that price range, please tell me! :)
