Hi,
I have only become interested in photography this summer and in the main I love it. I photograph mainly flowers. I am struggling with any images from the camera that are yellow. I do not know much about camera and how to use them to be honest :G Maybe my image will explain all. This was taken last night it was still light but no sun. I am using a camera I love in Olympus D-380 Any other color image seem to be fine, just not yellow. Thanks for any help. |

The RGB histogram from you image shows that it is overexposed:
The histogram for Red shows a little bias toward overexposed: The histogram for Green shows quite a lot of blown highlights: The histogram for Blue shows a normal exposure: The Bayer Filters used in image sensors have twice as many photosensors for green than for red or blue. If you have made any adjustments to the default exposure settings for your camera, you may have madeadjustments for what you thought were plesant images of red and blue flowers, but those settings are causing the yellow flowers to be overexposed. |

I thought it maybe was just using the Flash on it that does that mess or the sun. I do have the manual so maybe I best have a look or try to re-set to man default if I can find it. Thanks! |

The image you posted didn't have any EXIF data, so I didn't know you'd used the flash. Otherwise, I'd have said something. |

It must be like you say Tcav,
Its too much for yellow. I have the book and it shows how to dim the Flash yet. Auto flash fires auto. Thats only logic lol Redeye reduction shows an eye icon so thats fine too. Fill in Flash shows like a lightening icon Apparently you *can turn Flash off, about four presses of the icon on the front of the camera, is that the answer? I have tried flash/ zoomed in/ zoomed out/ stood near/stood far but still get the same horribilis image. I tried the pot of yellows on the wall/off the wall/stood up to shoot/bent down to shoot..lolol Maybe update to a newer model with more options though I love this camera due to being fine with any color except yellow....sigh.. Christmas is coming.:lol: |

I'd check your Exposure Compensation and metering settings. Something is causing overexposure (images that are too bright).
Try setting Exposure Compensation to a negative value (which should give you a darker exposure) and see if that solves it. I'd also check your metering options (you can choose from both spot and iESP). One only looks at a small spot, and the other tries to look at the entire image to determine how bright to expose the scene. I'd try both and see what works better for that type of image. You can find more in your model's review. Here is the page for record options: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2002_.../d380_pg3.html ![]() The Record Options under the Camera sub-menu are:

Hey Tcav,
That link was great. Took some moves and a bit of understanding but I found things I never saw before. Now to play with the camera inbetween taking pics to test. Thanks ![]() |
