Default Upgrading my camera.

I want to upgrade from my 2.1 pixel camera(Fuji). I have done extensive research! Compared prices, checked specs etc, and still not sure which one to buy. I want a 4 or 5 mp camera that takes VERY[ good quality images.( Image quality is a must) Would also like a good zoom lens or ability to attach one, also wide angle lens, and to add to the confusion a good macro capability so I can take close up's. I take a lot of family & friends photos, so must be good with portraits.
I have narrowed it down to the following( taking into account my budget too)
Olympus C5050 Seems good all round
Olympus C750 also seems very good
Olympus C4040 - sounds ideal but is older & I can't find a stockist - anyone know any?
Canon G3
Nikon Coolpix 4500
b]Minolta Dimage 7Hi sounds good but more expensive.
\has anyone any comments or advice. Also about best places to shop - and where to get the C4040?
Thanks hopefully

Hi Sabelle___

It sounds like you have done quite a bit of homework .

One thing you mentioned is that you want to do lots
of family portraits.

Whichever you choose, you may want to consider a
digcam that can handle an external flash. External
flash can greatly enhance your "portrait possibilities".

You may want to check out Olympus Auction page
on Ebay.

They have a variety of refurbished digcams all with
a 90 day guarantee.

If dollars (quid ) is not a major concern, Sabelle
then perhaps an Olympus E1 is in your future

Good luck

If zoom is no concern go the 5050 or the G3

as an owner of both a 5050z and a D7Hi i have to say that they diverge in design quite radically. where the 5050 is closer in design to a rangefinder type camera and the 7Hi is nearest to a SLR type. both have a range of versatility above others in their class. i got the 5050 for my wife and daughter to use but with a twist for me. it makes and excellent underwater camera with the olympus housing designed for it.

my 7Hi is an excellent all arounder (except UW) when i'm not lugging the 1Ds around. its not getting the workout it used to before my DSLR but by my standards it is still easy to through in a bag for a trip that doesn't allow for haevy lifting.
