There aren't really any Mac programs for Raw Conversion except for the software that came with the camera. Iphoto does have RAW support, but not my RAF.
I've been experimenting with Picasa on my computer, and it seems to accept the RAF files and displays them, but it has a hard time converting them.

There should be some around. I just don't keep up with what's out there for OS X.
Have you tried this one? http://www.raw-photo-processor.com/RPP/Overview.html If all else fails, just install one of the popular Linux distros in a dual boot config with OS X. There are some free linux programs that would handle the HS10 fine. Or, install a few linux distributions inside of Virtual Machines using the free VirtualBox software. That way, you can run another operating system inside of a Window without rebooting. Get it here: http://www.virtualbox.org Then, download the .iso file for one of the popular linux distro choices and install some programs like digiKam Something like the latest Mint 11 Release Candidate would probably be a good bet. It uses an Ubuntu 11.04 base (so it can run any software designed for the latest Ubuntu release). http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=1752 I'd download the 32 bit .iso for use in a Virtual Machine in VirtualBox. Or, if you've got a legal copy of Windows, you could install it in a Virtual Machine under VirtualBox, too. |

I don't use Mac, but looking at the MajorGeeks site, noticed they have a tab for Mac s/w, which brings up an entire list for free and shareware for mac, including a Raw converter - http://mac.majorgeeks.com/download6185.html.
May be something to look into. brian |

"Jim C
QUOTE: If anyone is tempted by that kind of thing, please be aware that virtually all pirated software for programs like Photoshop that you find on file sharing sites contains malware; and even if the main program doesn't, you can bet that the key generator programs do. Try uploading one of them to http://www.virustotal.com and see what you get." For the google wizards pirated software is not needed to get photoshop and have it "registered" and no i'm not talking about keygens either. |

Let's look at an example of another popular method. Here's an analysis of a patch that includes a TSR that prevents CS5 from calling home. Note that only 10 of the over 40 scanners detected a problem with it when analyzed on may 12th (and when it was first released, that number was probably even lower, as none of them knew what to look for yet):
http://www.virustotal.com/file-scan/...f68-1305164619 Yet, a newer analysis of it from yesterday is showing that over half of the scanners used is detecting it as malware. http://www.virustotal.com/file-scan/...f68-1305496097 That's the way these things normally work (appear to be clean when released, determined to be malware later, as the scanners just didn't know what to look for when the patch/keygen/tsr [insert favorite hack method here] was first released. |

How do you know Virustotal isn't just a random generated message? Or a virus in its own?

If you check suspicious files with the same Antivirus scanners they're using, you'll see the same results.
BTW, here's a similar service: http://virusscan.jotti.org/en But, I usually prefer to use http://www.virustotal.com when available, since they use more scanners and tend to update definitions more often. I see links to malware posted here on a regular basis, and some of it looks very legit, too (exif readers, image editors, video players, etc.). So, using those services comes in handy so that I can test suspicious links for malware. |

No one mentioned Irfanview. Is there some stigma associated with it? I use it to view Nikon RAW and to do light tasks such as batch resize, copyright text, sharpening, and color correction.
