Default VALUE DIGI CAMCORDER -- EBAY?

I am looking for the best value in a family digital camcorder. Budget flexible but prefer around $500 or less on the basic kit and $100 or so on accessories. Will go higher for quality but I will hunt till I find it at my price. I don't understand what a "MV or EV" is--is that a sony digicam? I bid $465 on a JVC 700X ZM kit but lost the auction at $475... so still looking and seeking advice. Stills a plus but not a priority. Computer interface desired. USED/refurb is OK.

Default JVC GR-DVL805U

Is this a decent camcorder? it seems like a steal for $429, brand new.

Default JVC GR-DVM55

Apparently the Panasonic 600 and 700 are better choices than the DVL805u. Now looking at the DVM55 -- looks nice!
