Default Good 4 mp and above? Nikon 4500, Canon G3, Olympus C50,C4000

I've read a lot of the reviews, and they all seem like pretty good cameras. My current (and old) camera is the Olympus D490. I've been pretty happy with it overall, except it doesn't take very good photos in low lighting, and sometimes the lens stays retracted when I move the lens shield. (Sorry, I'm not familiar with the terminology. ops: )

The G3 is tempting, because I can put on an external flash. Could you please offer some opinions on what you think I should get given these prices:
-Canon G3 $520
-Nikon 4500 $430
-Olympus C50 $475
-Olympus C4000 $300

Thank you!

I would suggest you look at the C4040. It is 4mp, 3X optical and a F1.8 lens. Will perform very well in lowlight conditions. I also have owned the D490. It was a good camera but the C4040 will blow it away.

Hi Phil -
Thank you very much for your suggestion, however, I'm having a hard time finding this camera available for sale online. I assume this model is discontinued?

If possible, do you know where I could find one (that's not refurbished.) Or can you please recommend another comparable model?

Thank you! It is much appreciated!

The C5050 replaced the C4040. Look at this on line link:

https://www.clickfordigital.com/deta...productid=7108

Also Olympus has them on the refurb site and comes with 90 warranty. They will also additional warranty with the camera:

Hi Phil -
Thanks for the prompt response! Thank you for the links. I'm definitely considering the C4040.

The C5050 was actually my first choice, but due to the prices of the other cameras (and I only could get them at those sale prices until tomorrow 6/7), I was just wondering if those models were similar in quality.

Do you think there will be any price drops for the C5050 in the near future, or is it too soon? I mainly want to get a new camera before my trip in the beginning of September.

Thank you very much!

Of those listed, i'd go with the g3, fast lense, 4x optical zoom, comparable to the c5050 with one less mp, etc.
