Default Olympus models 300 vs C-350Z

I've narrowed my choice down to these two from Olympus. I really like the Olympus Mju 300 - UK name (aka Stylus 300 in US) especially because of its compactness and weatherproof metal body. However its GBP 70 more than the C350Z which is less compact I think and the body is plastic?? Also the Mju300 uses a special battery (about GBP 30) rather than the rechargable AA type which are a lot cheaper.

It is really worth the stretch as the C-350 is basically the same in a bigger and plainer body? Will it last very long?

Any tips will be appreciated. Many thanks.

I was faced with the same choice last week...my budget decided for me and I purchased the 350Z.

Will it last? Too soon to tell but it feels sturdy enough and as I don't plan on doing any whitewater rafting in the near future I believe it will...last, that is.

There are, however, other differences besides the price and the housings but Steve does a better job of listing them than I ever could.

Hope I could help...

P.S. You can view photos I've taken with the C-350Z here:

Thank you for your advice Welshman. Thank you too for translating the model numbers. I was trying to find it in Steve's reports and hadn't realised it was called the D560Z.

I've just ordered a C350Z due to the batteries. In the rest of these forums there were too many people moaning about the propriety batteries.

I liked your webpics too.

Cheers.
