If nothing else, should give you a feel for how playing about with image size, resizing algorithm, sharpness settings and jpeg compression affect the results and file size (shown at top of window or by putting cursor over preview window).

Off topic...but. There are a few companies offering sub 20 p/month broadband access. Don't forget, broadband does not have to mean 512k - there are quite a few companies offering 256k lines and some even do 128k - have a look round the web. Search google for "cheap uk broadband" without the " or something like that. Broadband is just a user friendly term for ADSL - which is Asynchroneous Digital Subscriber Line - it gives you the advantage of always-on connectivity and essentially a second phone line but does not specify a speed that this should work. Although broadband in the whole is the widely recognised term for 512k / 1mbps connections.
